Hi all!! I am so glad to have found this site!!! I am old skool; i think “TJs11thPre” was my last registered username on old forums. I’m still using one of my webOS phones every day!!
Anyone who might remember me, I hope you’re doing well and would love to hear from you. Anyone who doesn’t, well here’s my webOS summary:
I was one of the first users of the original Pre when it launched, had about 6 of them because they were pretty crappy back then (i swear they just sent unfixed refurbs right back into the field, lol) until i got my 7th, which was pretty solid. I built 2 FrankenPres w Pre2s, then a Veer and a Pre3. Also 2 Tpads, one OG and one 4G with dual boot.
i use my Veer every day as bedpost clock and music player. I love that it still streams Pandora without commercial interruptions. The battery is toast so i can’t remove it from the TStone, but ClaudeAi just yesterday helped me to disable every dead Fetch service that had been trying to call HP. I’m really excited about this, as it was causing my stream to pause a lot, sometimes several times an hour. Claude found this site for me too which is why I’m here.
My TPads and Pre3 are all like new. I’ve barely used any of them. The TPads have sat on their docks undisturbed for years, except for the occasional power outage to wake them up. The Pre3 has been in a display case it’s whole life, with battery removed. I check them occasionally, all 3 seem fresh as new. It’s a shame I’ve not used them at all, but we all know the heartbreaking history. I haven’t tried keeping them current because it’s like picking at an old scab. So I’m really happy to realize that Ai can help me with these devices, and that there’s still a community alive that cares. I’m looking forward to exploring this site when i have more time.
i have a lot of saved ipks and many installed among my 4 functional devices. Unfortunately my FrankenPre2 which i relied upon so heavily for years, likely needs a doctoring before it would function on wifi (certainly not on Sprint, lol) again. But the Veer, Pre3, and TPads are alive and I’d like to try updating whatever i can, now that I’ve found this site. WebOS in ’26?! I am so pleasantly surprised.
These days, I’m daily-driving a BlackBerry Priv (which I’ve named Pre IV, lol) and struggling to keep it competent; but so far-so good, using ClaudeAi to help me troubleshoot it.
But i will never give up the physical keyboard life. I despise oskbs! And of course, portrait slider is the best form factor on earth, which is why i haven’t yet bothered with any of the latest pkb options coming to market recently. Yes, it’s still on android 6, but it is fully functional and I’m very happy with its performance to date. Priv was BB’s last, best build ever; I’m certain I’m able to use it today only because it was so far ahead of its time.
Thanks to all who are keeping the webOS love alive! Looking forward to meeting you here; i doubt I’ll be able to in-person; i’m in Atlanta, USA and i saw that Europe is where you’re planning most meetings. I’ve never been able to travel overseas, it’s just beyond my means, but i would if i could. Maybe someday! But meeting other webOS fans anywhere, even here, is fantastic. I’m so happy to have found this site. I’ll visit more when I’m able. Thanks for brightening my day today!!
