Minutes of the Forum Management meeting
A. Management Committee (who's doing it).
After some discussion of structure it was agreed that the committee would decide upon policy and manage the forums. Members will be drawn from the forum itself.
Generally, committee members would be expected to contribute some time and effort and will either manage technical aspects or community aspects - mainly moderation. Possibly individual members would cross-over or switch roles from time to time.
Preemptive was elected meeting chair for the time being.
Of those present and those who had previously volunteered as admins, the committee numbers 6.
- nomad84 - Owner/admin
- Eval - Admin
- Starkka15 - Admin
- Codepoet - App admin
- Mazzinia - Moderator
- Preemptive - Moderator / Meeting Chair
B. Practical Forum Management (what do we need to do?)
The admins will adjust the forum status of the committee members.
Systems will be set up to:
a. Make it difficult for spam-bots to join
b. Auto-moderate new members for a period
c. Notify the mods if their attention is needed (if possible).
It was agreed that the general appearance and structure of the forums was acceptable for now. Rolling committee discussion will be on the forums-replacement channel and a meeting could occur in 3 months if a major discussion is required.
C. Policies / Terms & Conditions
Adoption of moderation policies (including who's allowed to join)
- hCaptcha will be used to shield from bots.
- New members will be on auto-moderate for the first three posts. Exceptions will be if the first post is an "introduce yourself" post or if a member already on the webOS Archive Discord requests exemption.
General "direction & focus" of the forum.
In terms of general direction, a thread will be set up on the forum for members to offer opinions. Anything posted there can inform future discussion.
"Final" decision on what to call the forums.
I was agreed to adopt "webOS Lives" as the forum name, forums.weboslives.eu as the domain and for forums.webosarchive.org to redirect to it.
Adjustments will be made for search engines and the home page will include text welcoming the former members of "webOS Nation" to the site (also for the benefit of search engines.
D. Anything else?
No other business.
