Media Sync from original Palm Pre not showing up.

I recently bought a 1st gen Palm Pre. I wanted to mess around with the Media Sync function and old versions of iTunes that saw the Pre as an iPod. I get no option for MediaSync when I connect to a desktop, just Charge and USB Drive. This Pre is on webOS 1.4.5. I know Palm gave up trying to update the webOS to trick iTunes, but did Palm remove Media Sync altogether after a certain version of the webOS?

napabar have you checked Preware patches yet? There might be one to enable it.

h8pewou There's a patch to disable it, but that's the opposite of what I want. I cracked open the source code of the patch and checked my Pre via the command line, and the code is stock, and not changed to what the patch does.

I have never used it on "recent" webOS versions, but it did work back in the day. Doctoring your Pre back to an earlier version could potentially still work.

h8pewou That was going to be my next question, as all the Doctors I found were for 1.4.5. I see some older ones in the link you just sent, but will they work regardless of carrier? The other Doctors I found were broken down by carrier. My Pre is a Sprint.

h8pewou Been to that page. Only has latest version. The earlier link you gave has older versions, but not broken down by carrier.

You first link with older Doctors (like 1.2.5) are from Telecom from Mexico.

After doing some research, it looks like Palm removed the Media Sync in webOS 1.3.1. Looks like I need a Doctor file for webOS 1.2.1 or older. Been through the usual suspects of archives on the web, and none have this, or if they do it's a dead link. Hopefully somebody in the community has a 1.2.1 or older Doctor file for a Sprint Pre.
